Large caliber rifle operator course

This course was developed for operators and agencies that have large-caliber rifles (i.e.) .50BMG or.338 Lapua/Norma or greater) or are seeking to develop a large caliber program. Often, agencies underutilize and undertrain with these rifle systems and plan to "break glass in case of emergency" mentality with little thought given to how and under what circumstances these tools are used. "Training" is often nothing more than a familiarization fire.

This course is designed to assist operators and agencies in professionalizing your large caliber rifle program. We seek to offer real-world deployment strategies, sustainable training standards and documentation. This course is designed to empower operators with information that can be used in future critical decisions.

• Historical case studies of large-caliber weapons used by criminals and police. 
• Ammunition selection and capabilities.
• Understanding overpressure and acoustic exposure hazards and mitigation.
• Terminal ballistic demonstration.
• Engine disablement.
• Vehicle assessment and targeting.
• Use of force against animate and inanimate objects.
• Training, documentation, policy and lesson plan writing, program sustainability and legitimacy.
• Qualification.

• Sworn law enforcement officer in your state.
• Currently assigned or have an imminent appointment to a tactical team.
• Completed the OTOA Basic Sniper Course or equivalent.
• Be in good physical condition with no light-duty restrictions.
• Attending on behalf of your agency, covered by your agency's workers' compensation insurance.
